<h1>John Carling</h1><h2>Computer Software Engineer</h2><hr />

Hi and welcome to my interactive resume.

After working near the leading edge of computer technology for over 20 years ( and not falling off !:-), I have learned quite a bit about constructing survivable and friendly systems.

I have been trained in Object Oriented Design (OOD), Structured Program Design, Top Down Design (an inverted name for bottom up construction) and even the old Hierarchy Input Process Output (HIPO) Design.    The latter usually produced the same end result as its Animal Kingdom's namesake.    Basically, there are only Good and Bad designs regardless of the Computer Aided Design Methodology ( frequently the latter were engineered with the fancier ).    It is more important for the objectives to define a development strategy than to force the use of a design methodology by redefining requirements.

I also know, that it is almost always more cost effective to use the tools available to resolve a problem than to try to obtain the tool designed to resolve a specific situation ("The right tool for the right job" while nice, is not always affordable).    But, I still enjoy learning and using new tools which is why I created a Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) Resume, instead of using a hammer and chisel to inscribe my resume in a stone tablet.

The CONTENTS page contains both Subject Mater and Chronological lists of my Experience.    These are made up of links to the most recent experience related to the topic. On each of the pages there are HyperText links to previous and subsequent related work experience along with links back to the Index, Top of Page and E-Mail. I would like to know what you think of the layout and ease of navigation even if there is nothing in my background matching your present needs.    So when you are finished, please E-Mail your opinion, suggestions or Job Offers to me, John@Carling.net.
